Prayer

  1. Please pray that David and Philomina's visits in November in the US will be informative and productive.

  2. Pray that the NMC will be a blessing to all involved.

  3. Please pray for all those who have not been reached and who have not confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior, entering into baptism for the remission of sins…and for all the saints of Christ’s church worldwide.

  4. Pray for no flooding this winter. The rains during the southwest monsoon have been very heavy. This is good news in general and the rain most welcome, but it creates a potential for winter flooding. The concern is that the northeast monsoon is the one we normally get and if it comes in normal strength, we are going to be faced with flooding all across the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

  5. Pray for the medical evangelism. Christian Hospital has a good-sized building, which was built in the 1970's. It needs renovation: a whole new electrical system throughout the Hospital, new fans and other fittings, a X-ray (our last one was purchased in 1993 and is worn out by the bad electrical system and surges in the electrical power), and a blood testing machine, so we can know what kinds of fever we are dealing with when people come

  6. Pray for a full time doctor. Here in India now, that means a salary of $1,000 a month. Our total budget is $2,000 a month for all the medical evangelism, so you can see the difficulty. By borrowing from College funds, we have been able to put a new roof on the Christian Hospital building. This will stop the decay in the walls, which was threatening to have the building collapse if something wasn't done. The new roof stopped that now but the damage done by years of a very tight budget still needs to be repaired. But the College has its own budget and can't provide the monthly cost of a full time doctor.

  7. We always have needs for new evangelistic campaigns and the training of the leadership. We wanted to start a new Leadership Training Program but to date our prayers have not been answered with enough support to start. This is a two-year program and requires $25,000 to do it. To date, we have $6,000.

  8. Finally, we are praying to bring the key mother churches up to date with new roofs and walls and even new buildings where required, as the last major church building wave was a generation ago. We have gone through 3 generations of buildings in the villages. The Children’s Homes are now in the process of coming up to what we are calling "4th Generation standards." The College has one 4th generation large main building, for which we never stop praising He who provides all. The second building, a women's dorm, is 3rd Generation but has been roofed, so if we can get the walls built in 2008 or 2009 that will bring the College's buildings up to standard.  A new church building costs between $3-$5,000, depending on the size of the building. We have around 920 churches that could benefit greatly from a new church building or major renovation of their old one. This includes all 50 of the tsunami relief program churches. Several built their own buildings as part of the recovery program. Those are already too small.

  9. Pray that Jesus will illuminate us as to how to prepare ourselves for the upcoming struggle which we sense is nearly upon us.

  10. Pray that Jesus will give the leadership here good health, wisdom, unity, and strength to do what He has for us to do.

  11. Pray that the churches will be strong in their preparation for the spiritual warfare to come, and the leadership of the churches is strongly unified in purpose and prayer.

  12. Pray that the children will be protected.

  13. Pray the patients will receive the medical care they need when they come to Christian Hospital.

  14. Pray the students the learning they need to become the new generation of leadership.

  15. Pray the teachers at the College teach well and faithfully as they train the current College students.

  16. Pray that the College’s role in preparing leadership grows as new churches send their young men and women to take up the burden of leadership.

  17. Pray that Jesus is glorified in what His people here in south India do.

  18. Please pray for those who lost their lives never knowing Jesus, and those who will die in the weeks and months to come without knowing Jesus. It may not be God's will that the College use its trained disaster teams to assist in Burma, but I know we can pray for the future of Christ's church in Burma,

Our Southern Asia Christian College graduates are trained and could easily go to Burma to rebuild that country and bring Jesus to its people. We saw how working with local leadership and connecting it to loving and sacrificial Christians in America helped  plant the 50 churches from the 50 survivor groups. We pray that the same power of the Holy Spirit moves Christians from India to extend themselves in the service of Jesus. We pray Jesus will show us the way to make Burma one of the mission fields where our College graduates will build Christ's church in Burma the way it is here in south India.

  19. We pray for the saints that have died recently in the heat wave that preceded Nargis and the cyclone. It was hard to understand how it had gotten so hot after a cool spring. Now we know it was tied to Nargis. The temperatures have climbed down from 112F to the more normal 102-105F (from 45C to 40C for those of you who know your Celsius.)

  20. Please pray for the VBS programs, being held at night or the very early morning for one more week.

  21. Please pray that Jesus will continue to lead the South India Church of Christ Mission as He has the past sixty years. And thank Jesus for the saints in America who have made the building of Christ's church here in south India possible through their interest, support and prayers.

  22. Pray Jesus will give His followers good health and every happiness in the days to come, as we all serve Him. We know there will be hard times "sent to us to purify our faith", and we rejoice that whatever comes, we will one day be with Jesus. WHAT A BLESSING AND A HOPE!
